FC BARCELONA

FORMATIONS FOR USE IN FIFA and PES
Updated every week.

Here are a few formations you may recognize that FC Barcelona have used in the past year or so against some strong European competition. Feel free to throw these variations into FIFA 12/13 or PES, and give them a try, they all work great for different purposes and opponents and are all practiced out of the Nou Camp.

2-1-3-4 with Dani Alves on a strong attack. Very high defensive line, Messi in his usual False 9 with Sanchez playing the False 10 position. Busquets pushes up higher than usual with little support at the back. (RISKY FULL FLEDGED ATTACK)
3-3-4 again with Alves pushing up and down the RW however initially starting in a RWB position. When he pushes up the pitch, Busquets drops deeper to support Puyol and Pique at the back. RECOMMENDED.

The extremely popular 3-4-3 formation with a 4' Midfield Diamond, Messi and Fabregas continuously interchanging roles. Everyone but Pique and Keita staying in position. Mascherano and Alba push up the wings to make it difficult for the oppositions Strikers to push forward. Xavi plays as the central creative midfielder here. This formation parallels Marcelo Bielsa's tactically exciting Chilean side that pushes 3 forward with 1 creative mid, the wingers push out wide to create space on the flanks. The defensive line pushes very high up the pitch. RECOMMENDED.

Another variation of the 3-4-3 diamond, this formation is Barcelona's most utilized and comfortable fix, enabling them to keep Messi in a False 9 role, while Dani Alves pushes up the right flank for a wider field of play. Maintaining possession seems to be easy with this mark up. RECOMMENDED.

Another 3-4-3, Messi and Fabregas interchange while one plays the False 9 and the other moves forward into striking position. This greatly benefits Villa out on the wing as he is able to create space for an opening.

From 4-3-3 to 4-2-1-2-1 or 4-2-1-3 or 4-1-3-2, these are all one in the same as Barcelona switch formations with such ease, this is one that pushes Iniesta to the Left Wing, Busquets more forward than usual, Xavi uses his creativity as always but more freely behind several options and Messi runs deep to assist with threading the needle. And of course... Alves. RECOMMENDED.

Classic 4-3-3. Remember to keep Messi in a CF position. Tello and Thiago are good subs to keep on the bench in exchange for Pedro and Iniesta.
